04/28/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/28/17 20:46 Basic Mau is a 5 yr old neutered DSH. He was adopted from ACC but is being returned because he is having a hard time adjusting to his new home. He had a cough recently, and was on meds for this and was last seen by a vet a few days ago. Socialization Mau is shy for a few minutes but then can be friendly. He has not spent time with children and plays gently with adults. He has not been around other cats or pets in his most recent home and does not have a bite history. Behavior Mau will meow a lot in the night. His owner recently set up a crate for him in the living room so he would have a safe space and also be able to be around everyone. Ever since the crate has been set up, Mau has kicked out all of the litter in the litter box and sits in the litter box. He will poop and pee on the towels in the crate. He was also hiding in fear for a while, and would pee where he was hiding in a corner and would not move from that spot. He isn’t bothered by car rides. He has been having litter box problems ever since he was adopted and has not been to a vet for this. The accidents happen on a daily basis. His owner did not bathe him or trim his nails so his behavior for those activities is unknown. He likes being brushed. He isn’t bothered when being held or picked up. He does struggle a little when being put in the carrier and isn’t bothered when disturbed when sleeping or resting. For New Family Mau is described as shy and fearful, but also talkative, friendly and affectionate. He takes a while to open up. His activity level has been low and his owner liked that he was talkative and would hide in linen baskets- she realized he liked small spaces to curl up in. When his owner was home, Mau would be in his favorite spot, or in a linen basket in the closet. He has been kept indoors only and sleeps in his crate with the door locked, or in the linen baskets. He eats both wet and dry food, having access to dry all day and getting one can of wet food in the morning. He liked dried tuna for snacks. He is not very litter box trained and was using an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. He did not scratch on anything. During intake Mau was friendly and allowed all collaring and handling.
