SAFE 12/11/17—- 7 year old MARTINA was just adopted on 12/1 and her adopter returned her for having URI signs!!! What about taking this poor cat to a VET??? Subjective: Alert, appropriate
Observed Behavior – Hisses occasionally but allows all handling
Objective
BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 9/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean. Mild serous nasal discharge.
Oral Exam: Mild tooth staining
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Hacking cough/sneeze. Lungs quiet.
ABD: Large, non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Female, reported spayed
MSI: Recently shaved patches on dorsal abdomen, some small mats just caudal to this region. Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites.
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
Assessment:
1. URI
2. Obese
Prognosis: Fair
Plan:
1. Move to isolation
2. Start doxycycline 1.7 ml PO SID x10 days
3. Nebulize BID
4. Monitor recovery – if pt continues to breathe poorly, rec chest rads to rule out asthma
