***SAFE 03/25/16 *** RETURNED! Poor MARSHMELLOW is a pretty 2-year-old spayed lady who thought she had put the ACC in her rear-view mirror in 2014. She was obviously shocked and disheartened to find herself back at the ACC and this has played out as an EXPNOCHILD rating. Marshmellow knows what it’s like to be a pet and she feels ROBBED, now that she’s lost everything she cared for. A FOSTER or ADOPTER is all that can save her life, tonight!

03/19/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/19/16 14:17 Basic Info: Marshmellow A0997285 is a 2yr old spayed female white & gray DSH feline who was adopted from us in 2014 & is being surrendered due to the owner moving to where pets aren’t allowed. Marshmellow was seen by a veterinarian in August 2015 and has no known health issues/injuries. Socialization: Around strangers Marshmellow is shy for a few minutes. She hasn’t been around children or other animals but was gentle, exuberant, relaxed/affectionate with her adult owner in the home. Marshmellow did scratch her owner last year as she was attempting to trim her nails, the scratch did not break skin or bleed. Behavior: During car rides Marshmellow will meow/cry. She hasn’t been given a bath, had her nails trimmed (besides the one time last year where she scratched the owner) or been disturbed while sleeping/resting. Marshmellow runs away when you begin to brush her, she allows to be picked up/held at times and will walk into her carrier on her own. For a New Family to Know: Marshmellow is described as friendly, affectionate, playful (at times), confident, shy (new people), mellow (at times), confident & quiet with a medium activity level. When the owner is home Marshmellow follows them around. She enjoys string & cat dancer toys. Marshmellow is an indoor only cat who sleeps with the owner. She eats dry & wet Kibbles & Bits 2x a day and enjoys Temptations treats. Marshmellow doesn’t like her food or water in an automatic feeder (she’ll knock them over). She’ll also scratch on the bed to let you know she’s hungry. Marshmellow is hooded litter box trained with clumping litter within. She has/uses a rough rope/carpeted scratching post. Intake Behavior: Marshmellow initially had a soft body & soft eyes. She allowed to be scanned (+) and placed into the kennel. When I attempted to remove her collar and place her onto the back drop for pictures she hissed, growled & charged at the cage. Due to these behaviors we were unable to remove her home collar, place our collar on her or take her picture on the backdrop.

03/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, around strangers Marshmellow is shy for a few minutes. She hasn’t been around children or other animals but was gentle, exuberant, relaxed, and affectionate with her adult owner in the home. Marshmellow did scratch her owner last year as she was attempting to trim her nails, the scratch did not break skin or bleed. During car rides Marshmellow will meow and cry. She hasn’t been given a bath, had her nails trimmed (besides the one time last year where she scratched the owner) or been disturbed while sleeping/resting. Marshmellow runs away when you begin to brush her, she allows to be picked up/held at times and will walk into her carrier on her own. Reaction to assessor: Marshmellow is hiding on approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Marshmellow continues to hide. Reaction to cage door opening: Marshmellow remains motionless and does not respond. Reaction to touch: Marshmellow comes slowly to the front and solicits petting and attention, but grumbles during the interaction and seems unsure of her surroundings. Behavior Determination: Experienced, no children Marshmellow tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
