Mars came into the shelter with some wounds on his tail which seemed to be healing nicely. Sadly, he is not liking the fact he was trapped and dumped and is fighting for his life tonight! If you have some cat whispering skills, please help MARS. Contact a New Hope RESCUE and offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT this guy TODAY!

06/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Mars watched the assessor nervously with wide eyes When spoken quietly: Mars hisses and charges at the cage Reaction to door cage opening: Mars strikes at the front of the cage Reaction to touch: Mars is very fearful. He hisses, swats and does not allow petting at all Try picking cat up: Mars does not allows petting or handling at all. Behavior Determination: NewHope Mars was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. He seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
