12/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mandy was bought into the care center due to the previous owner being allergic to her. Mandy lived with two adults and two children. The previous owner stated Mandy is affectionate and likes to cuddles. Mandy behavior is unknown towards other animals. She’s indoors only and activity level very high. The previous owner described Mandy as playful, confident, assertive, talkative, affectionate, and quiet. Reaction to assessor: Mandy was hiding in her cat den when I approach cage When spoken quietly: Mandy continues to hide in her cat den Reaction to door cage opening: Mandy hisses and growls Reaction to touch: Mandy did not allow petting Try picking cat up: did not attempt to pickt up Mandy due to fractious behavior. Behavior Determination: NewHope Mandy was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment Mandy was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Mandy may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
