*** SAFE 01/25/18 *** FELV+ LUTHER is a very friendly 3 yr old guy. Even though he is FELV+, he can live as a solo cat, with other FELV+ cats or with dogs…Please help LUTHER get his chance and give this loving cat a life!

FELV POSITIVE

Hello, my name is Luther. My animal id is #18371. I am a desexed male gray cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old. – P

I came into the shelter as a stray on 15-Jan-2018.

Luther was placed at risk due to his medical condition; he was diagnosed with FELV+ and will benefit from placement outside the shelter as soon as possible. he is suitable to go to a beginner home.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~3yrs Microchip noted on Intake? No History : Stray Subjective: BARH. Excellent appetite Observed Behavior – Active, attention seeking, allows all handling Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = WNL R = WNL BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, mild epiphora OD, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Teeth clean, pink mm PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Neutered MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: FELV+ Prognosis: Fair/poor long term prognosis Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC

Behavior Condition: 1. Green

  • Behavior Assessment

KNOWN HISTORY:: Luther was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 01/16/18 Active, attention seeking, allows all handling

Cage Condition:: Cage is slightly re-arranged

Reaction to assessor:: Luther perks up and meows softly when the assessor approaches the kennel.

Reaction when softly spoken to:: Luther starts to purr and gently rubs her cheeks against the cage door.

Reaction to cage door opening:: Luther is calm, relaxed and waits eagerly by the door to interact.

Reaction to touch:: Luther purrs, gently nudges the assessor’s hand and allows petting all over his body. He gives head butts and steps out the kennel to explore, but stays close to the assessor and allows all handling.

Reaction to being picked up:: Luther is calm, relaxed and remains calm in the assessor’s arms.

ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Lively

VOCAL:: Quiet

CHARACTER TYPE: : Social,Sweet,Affectionate,People oriented

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: None

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Beginner

Behavior Asilomar: H – Healthy

RECOMMENDATIONS:: None

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Luther interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
