02/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Luna and at the time she seemed conflicted. She allowed petting briefly but would raise her paw to stop. Luna lighly head butts and comes forward but low growled during the entire interaction. Reaction to assessor: Luna does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed When spoken quietly: Luna comes to the front of cage soliciting attention Reaction to door cage opening: Luna remains soft and relaxed Reaction to touch: Luna solicits petting and attention but easily becomes overstimulated. She begins to hiss and swat. Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Luna is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated . As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Luna becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Luna was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment Luna was displaying conflicted behavior. She comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention but becomes overstimulated. Once Luna becomes overstimulated she begins to hiss and swat. Luna is displaying behavior appropriate for a experienced cat owner with no children.
