ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/23/17 Lying in back of kennel with a tense body. Makes eye contact and tolerates petting along head and body while licking lips and turning head to face away from me. Turns head back around and hisses with continued interaction. Needs more time to adjust, sprayed feliway. 10/24/17 Timid, keeps her body lowered on top the kuranda bed. She hisses when approached and curls up tight, trying to shrink her body. Flinches when touched and shifts around trying to avoid contact. I sat with her and tried coaxing her forward. After a few minutes she inched forward and nudged my hand. She leans in when rubbed on her cheeks and gives gentle head butts. Slowly builds up confidence, rolls around, and accepts petting along her body. Food motivated, enjoys party mix & blue buffalo treats. Huge improvement! Sprayed feliway.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Lulu was crouched in her litter box with wide eyes focused on the assessor and her tail wrapped around her body.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Lulu slow blinks and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Lulu remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:: Lulu appears hesitant when approached and lip licks when the assessor extends his hand out. She lowers her head when touched and curls up tight, trying to shrink her body. After a few minutes of attention she perks up and gently nudges the assessor’s hand. She leans in when rubbed on her cheek and shifts her body weight allowing gentle petting all over.

Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experience
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
RECOMMENDATIONS:: None
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Lulu may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
