12/07/16 13:11 Basic Information Lucero is an 8 year old female domestic short hair. She was brought to our facility as a stray because her owner passed away. Surrendering party did not handle Lucero at all. Someone was able to get her into a carrier using treats. According to the surrendering party Lucero did not display aggression. Behavior during Intake Lucero did not tolerate handling. She hisses, spit, swatted, and growled. No handling took place in the admissions office.

Reaction to assessor: Lucero looks tense, hiding in the cat den when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Lucero remains in place, alert with eyes dilated. Reaction to touch: Lucero hisses at the assessor’s hand then paws to stop the interaction. Placement determination: NH ONLY Lucero is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
