**SAFE 04/21/16** DOUBLE BETRAYAL HERE TONIGHT! LOUIS AND LAWRENCE WERE TRAPPED AND DUMPED AT THE ACC – BOTH ARE PERFECTLY HEALTHY BUT WILL DIE BECAUSE THEY ACTED LIKE NORMAL CATS!!! Yes, you heard this correctly. LOUIS and LAWRENCE may be siblings – the ACC has their ages as a year apart – but look at them!! BOTH were caught and brought in together. BOTH allowed handling without any aggression. BOTH allowed petting on their assessments and even gave head-butts and stretched out. Yet when both raised their paw to say “enough,” that one little common kitty move got them punished and whisked onto tonight’s euth list! Can you blame these kitties? Of course not! HOW ABOUT ADOPTING A PAIR OF BOOKENDS HERE THAT ONLY NEED SOME TIME TO RELAX AND TRUST AGAIN. EMAIL THE HELP DESK AT [email protected] FOR RESCUE INFO AND GET LOUIS AND LAWRENCE OFF THE LIST AND INTO A HOME NOW!!

04/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Louis was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The enrichment facilitator has been monitoring Lois and reports that he is social at the front and allows petting all over. He suddenly became stiff and focused then swatted with no claws. Reaction to assessor: Louis is resting at the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Louis makes eye contact then stretches out. Reaction to cage door opening: Louis remains calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Louis sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows petting all over. He leans in for rubs and after a few soft passes Louis becomes stiff and focused on the assessor’s hand. He meows then raises his paw as a warning to stop. Initially Louis solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body he begins to meow and raises his paw at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Louis becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Louis tolerates petting but may be assertively demanding of attention or may play roughly. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
