He has spent time with a one year old kitten and is respectful with her and very tolerant. Louie has been around a Russel terrier every weekend and was respectful with the dog. His owner reports that he’s been having litter box issues for over 3 months and has not seen a vet about it. Reaction to assessor: Louie was at the front of the kennel looking out at his surroundings. Reaction when softly spoken to: Louie leans forward towards the assessor then gently rubs up against the door. Reaction to cage door opening: Louie is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Louie sniffs the assessors hand and allows petting all over his body. He leans in when rubbed on his cheeks, gently head butts and appreciates attention. Reaction to being picked up: Louie is a bit tense when picked up but remains calm and allows all handling. Louie’s previous owner reports that he was eliminating (urinating and defecating) outside the litterbox, but we are unaware of what, if any, modification steps were taken to try and address this behavior. We cannot be sure whether this behavior will continue in a home environment after treatment for the medical condition has been completed, but we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. Behavior Determination: Average Louie interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
