SAFE 3/9/17 GOING ON 2 MONTHS SINCE THIS 6 YR OLD SPAYED CUTIE WAS LEFT @BACC FOR “NO TIME” – NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT – NEEDS A NEW HOME NOW!!
Lisa is a lovely gray tabby girl who’s been here since October 1st! This kitty may initially be a little shy around new people, but with a few treats and head scratches she turns into one of the sweetest, most affectionate purring machines imaginable! She loves to curl up in her cubby, relaxing and taking in the sights, but when it’s time for cuddles and petting she’s spinning in circles asking for more. This lovely lady would love to go to an experienced forever home for the holidays.

Behavior::
10/05/16:
Lisa was brought in without information on her behavioral tendencies in a home environment. She was fearful and shy upon intake, but allowed the counselor to handle her. She also allowed handling during her initial medical exam.
The enrichment facilitator reports she appeared nervous and unsure of the environment during their first interaction. She started to warm up the second day and would lean forward for head rubs. She would come forward for attention during the third day and is very sweet, but was still a little nervous about her surroundings.
Reaction to assessor: Lisa was lying down, calm and relaxed.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Lisa looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes and blinks.
Reaction to cage door opening: Lisa pokes her head forward slightly.
Reaction to touch: Lisa sniffs the assessor’s hand and head-butts lightly. She leans in for rubs and begins to purr, but appears to feel more comfortable by the back of her kennel.
Reaction to pick up: Lisa was a bit tense during pick up, but remains calm when held.
Behavior Determination: Average
Lisa interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
11/09/16:
Reaction to assessor: Lisa was relaxed, lying on her blanket in her cubby.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Lisa makes eye contact then slowly rubs up against the kennel walls and doesn’t come forward when called.
Reaction to cage door opening: Lisa remains neutral.
Reaction to touch: Lisa seems unsure at first and lowers her head when the assessor approaches. She lip licks then quickly relaxes when pet and leans in for cheek rubs. She raises her rear up and purrs softly when pet on her head. When the assessor started petting her on her back she quickly whipped around and would focus on the assessor’s hand.
Reaction to being picked up: Lisa started to grumble when picked up then got antsy and leaped back into the kennel.
Behavior Determination: Experience
Lisa may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
