***SAFE 04/02/16*** LAYLA is a little stuffy from a URI that she has,but with antibiotics she will be just fine….that is ,if someone will save her! The 8 year old black beauty was a bit skittish upon intake but at her assessment she rubbed against the cage and solicited attention and leaned into petting. She got a good EXPERIENCE rating and needs a hand with a loving heart now to pull her to safety. Give this girl a great ending to the SONG that is her life.LAYLA is begging you…PLEASE!

04/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Layla came in as a stray so we have no information on her behavior in her previous home. She was diagnosed with a URI upon intake so we cannot be sure of how her medical condition may be influencing the behavior we have seen in the care center. Layla was easy to handle at intake and during her initial medical examination. During her first interaction with our enrichment facilitator, Layla retreated and avoided touch but solicited attention when the caretaker stepped away. The following day Layla leaned into pets and remained calm when held, though she was still a bit skittish and active in her cage. A day later she was napping and woke up with the cage door opened, did not retreat, leaned and arched into pets, then approached and rubbed on the bars of the cage to continue soliciting attention. Layla was napping deeply when approached by the assessor for her behavior assessment, and woke up when touched but appeared startled and retreated. Due to this response as well as her overall medical condition the assessor ended the interaction at this point. However, based upon the interactions by the enrichment team, we recommend placement with an experienced adopter who will allow Layla to warm up at her own pace. Once comfortable, Layla appears to be social and interactive.
