LALO – A1081917
Safe - 7-28-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 07/28/16** KITTEN ALERT! LALO and LEO were brought into the ACC after being found as strays. Lalo is a 12 week old little girl, and Leo is a handsome year old baby boy. Both of these brown tabbys have been rated EXPNOCHILD because they are a bit stressed out in the shelter environment. Can you really blame them? They were most likely trapped, and then promptly dumped off at the shelter. Now they are shoved into tiny cages, and don’t understand what’s doing on around them. Once placed into relaxed homes, these two babies could truly shine! Lalo and Leo can be ADOPTED/FOSTERED together or separately. Please consider giving them the opportunity the ACC want to deny them. They are both scheduled to DIE AT NOON TOMORROW! Two very young lives are on the line. Don’t let the ACC get their way. Don’t let Lalo and Leo become their next victims. Advocate for them TONIGHT!

07/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lalo was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behaviors in her previous home. She attempts to flee upon intake and did not allow the counselors to handle her. During her initial medical exam, she was very nervous and attempted to flee, hissed, and swatted. The enrichment facilitator reports she is a shy and anxious kitten, but was meowing by the front when approached. She hisses when they extended their hand, and fled back to her hidey den. Reaction to assessor: Lalo was by the front and was calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lalo inches forward and sniffs around. She appears curious, but would lip lick when looking at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Lalo retreats back inside her hidey den. Reaction to touch: Lalo hisses and retreats when the assessor extends their hand, but when the hand is left still and unmoving, she would slowly inch forward and investigate. She sniffs the hand and slowly lifts her paw up to pat it gently. She appears playful, and would bat the assessor’s hand with both paws. However, whenever the assessor moves their hand to initiate contact, she would retreat and tries to hide. Reaction to being picked up: Lalo attempts to flee whenever the assessor attempts to touch her, but when left to explore on her own she would walk onto the assessor’s lap and sniff around. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Lalo tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
