I came into the shelter as a stray on 26-Dec-2017.

Kit is at risk due to medical concerns, Kit has an Upper Respiratory Infection(URI) and liver disease. He will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days for the URI, this is a contagious illness to other cats. Kit should also see an outside veterinarian who could set up a course of treatment upon adoption or placement.

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
During intake Kit was calm. Kit allowed to be scanned and collared with a loose relaxed body. Kit enjoyed being pet and would push into the counselors hand. Kit allowed all handling and began to purr.

Basic Information:: Kit is a 6 year old nutered white and brown tabby DSh. Kit has been in the noughborhood for 4 years.
How is this cat around strangers?: Around strangers Kit is friendly and enjoys being pet.
How is this cat around other cats?: Kit will chase other cats away from his food.
How is this cat around dogs?: Unknown
Behavior Notes: Kit does not like to be pet on his Stomach and will swat
Bite history:: Kit does not have a known bite history.
Medical Notes: Kit has a possible infection.
For a New Family to Know: Kit was described as friendly Quiet and good natured. .Kit appears litter box trained and enjoys playing with a yoyo. Kit at both wet and dry food.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Kit was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder reports that he’s friendly, affectionate and quiet. He seems like he’s litter box trained.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Allows all handling but resents being placed on side for blood draw
Cage Condition:: Cage is recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor:: Kit was crouched in the back of the kennel with his tail wrapped around his body.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Kit lifts his head up and slow blinks at the assessor. He’s wary of his surroundings and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Kit lip licks then slowly shifts away to the other side of the double kennel.
Reaction to touch:: Kit lowers his body and tries to avoid contact. He pauses when touched, lip licks and tolerates gentle petting on his head and body. He builds up confidence over time and slowly approaches the front of the kennel. He leans in for cheek rubs and gives gentle head butts.
Reaction to being picked up:: Kit was a bit tense when picked up,but remains calm and allows all handling.

Potential challenges comments:: Kit has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
