11/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kissena was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finders believed she was injured and were able to place her into a crate to be carried to the care center. She attempted to flee during her initial medical exam, hissing and growling when restrained. Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. Reaction to assessor: Kissena’s body was flat against the ground, hiding behind her litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kissena’s ears tilt sideways and she remains tense. Reaction to cage door opening: Kissena becomes stiff and alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Kissena looks up at the assessor with wide eyes, but sniffs the assessor’s hand when placed in front of her. She flinches when touched, but allows gentle petting on her head and body. She remains immobile and tense, but does not display any further reaction. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Kissena tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
