Owner stated that she will put Kingsport inside of a room to calm him down and once he comes out he goes after her 2 and 7 year old daughters. She stated that Kingsport will stalk the 7 year old and then raises her back. After that she will hiss and go after her legs. At first owner thought Kingsport was playing very rough but when her hair stood up before the attack she figured it was out of aggression. Owner stated Kingsport will probably do best with no children.
Basic Information: Kingsport is 7 month old altered male domestic shorthair. He was adopted from AC&C three days ago. Kingsport was sneezing during intake. Owner surrenders Kingsport due to attacking children in the home.
Social Life and Personality: Kingsport lived with two adults and children ages 2 and 7 years old. Owner stated Kingport was friendly and relaxed towards adults in the home but the children he stalks. He doesn’t play with the children and stalk and hiss at them. He hasn’t been around strangers and other animals. He was indoors only and activity level is slow because he’s mostly sleeping. Owner describes him to be friendly, affectionate, playful and mellow towards adults in the home.
Behavior: Kingsport has scratched within the last 10 days but hasn’t bitten. (further details in behavior memo ). Kingsport was never given a bath or nail trim. He only likes to be picked up and held by adults in the household.
For a New Family to Know: Kingsport is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box. He likes to play with balls and wand toys. He often follow owner around the house or cuddles with them. He eats dry food called Meow mix.
Intake Behavior: Upon intake Kingsport attempt to flee and resist handling with aggression. He scanned positive for a microchip and allowed limited handling.

Upon intake Kingsport was soft body, playful and ate wet food. He scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.
As per previous owner, Kingsport is described as being friendly, affectionate, playful and mellow towards adults in the home. He likes to play with balls, wand toys and often follow his owners around the house or cuddles with them. Kingsport was being monitored by the Enrichment Facilitator and was described as being very calm, relaxed and playful. He allowed all handling and was very affectionate.
Reaction to assessor: Kingsport makes eye contact with the assessor and comes to the front of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Kingsport rubs up against the kennel door and starts to purr.
Reaction to cage door opening: Kingsport is calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Kingsport allows petting all over and rubs up against the assessor’s hand. He is very affectionate, reaches out with paws and rolls over playfully.
Reaction to being picked up: Kingsport is calm, relaxed and has a soft body when held. He continues to purr and nuzzles his head against the assessor’s arms.
Behavior Determination: Beginner
Kingsport interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. It was stated by the previous owner that Kingsport plays rough with children. We recommend adopters with children carry out a thorough interaction before adopting. This cat can go to a beginner home.

At the front of the kennel. Calm and relaxed. Leans in for attention. Rubs up against hand. Allows all handling. Soft body when held.

Alert at the front of the kennel. Calm and relaxed. Solicits attention. Soft body when held. Allows petting all over. Curious free-roaming on floor. Rubs against hand.
02/14/16 Sunday (Day 5)
Reaches out with paws. Calm and relaxed. Very playful. Allows all handling. Meows softly.
02/15/16 Monday (Day 6)
Rubs up against the door. Soft body. Calm and relaxed. Soft body when held. Purrs when pet. Reaches out with paws.
