Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kingpin was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Kingpin was curled up inside his litter box at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kingpin lowers his head into the litter box trying to avoid eye contact. Reaction to cage door opening: Kingpin becomes alert and focuses on the assessor’s movements. Reaction to touch: Kingpin arches his back then hisses when the assessor approaches then quickly lunges forward. His ears are bent flat, he is extremely focused on his surroundings and he doesn’t allow any contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Kingpin is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
