11/15/16 14:15 Upon intake cat was easy to handle. He hissed when he was taken from the carrier but he allowed the counselor to pick him up. He ate wet food. He allowed collaring, scanning and photographs. As per the owner King has been in the hpme with 3 adults and a 6 year old child. There was also another cat in the home. His favorite person in the home is the 6 year old. King spends most of his time playing with the 6 year old. They play with rolled up socks together and watch cartoons. King is very easy going. He hisses when a stranger is near but he still allows them to touch him. He lets you pick him up and pet him. He does not put up a struggle at all. He likes to sit on top of the book case when he is tired. He wil lay there for hours and nap. His real fun time is at night when everyone is asleep. He will run through the whole house jumping on furniture and playing with his toy mouse. King eats dry cat food and uses an open litter. He is not bothered if you touch him while he eats. He does not have accidents outside of his ltter box. He drinks a lot of water so his water bowl needs to stay full. He has never been outside before. He has never been around dogs. He has been around 1 other the cat that lives in the home and he does not like to interact with that cat. When the other cat tries to play with him he hides from her. He has nevr bitten or scratched another person or animal.

11/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, King has lived in a home with 3 adults and a 6 year old child and was playful with them. He lived in a home with another cat and is described as an easy going cat. When strangers come over he hisses nut still allows them to pet him. He’s very active, running through the whole house jumping on furniture and playing with his toy mouse. Reaction to assessor: King was lying down in the back of the kennel and became alert when the assessor approached. Reaction when softly spoken to: King vocalizes and grumbles with his eyes wide and focused on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: King remains motionless. Reaction to touch: King lip licks upon approach, shifts his weight and gets into a defensive position. His body is tense with his ears bent flat and he swats when the assessor extends his hand out. He stays at the back of the kennel, low growls and allows no contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only King is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. Hehas tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
