KAYLA – A1089250
Gone - 9-23-2016 Brooklyn
***GONE 09/23/16 *** SECOND CHANCE TONIGHT FOR KAYLA TONIGHT – LET’S MAKE IT COUNT!!! FOUND IN A BUILDING….KAYLA was brought into the ACC with her pal KELLAN who was already given two chances on the nightly list and whose status is still unknown. KAYLA is New Hope rated and we have to wonder if KAYLA just wandered into a building or she lived there? KAYLA is afraid and stressed in the shelter – which is totally expected. She needs someone to be willing to work with a NEW HOPE rescue and FOSTER her if her life is to be SAVED….If you would like to contact a NEW HOPE rescue but don’t know how, email us at [email protected] and we can guide you to rescue information….Remember – New Hope ratings measure the fear the cats have IN the shelter, and not their behavior once in a safe home. Take a chance on KAYLA tonight! It may be her last chance to get out!

09/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kayla was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The enrichment facilitator has been monitoring Kayla and reports that she was given a feral den and wouldn’t come out with coaxed. She hissed when trying to make contact and didn’t allow any contact. Reaction to assessor: Kayla was curled up and hiding underneath her bogus paper and blanket. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kayla’s eyes become focused on the assessor and she slowly inches away. Reaction to cage door opening: Kayla remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Kayla lip licks with ears bent flat and looks around the kennel for an exit. She swats and bites then quickly runs forward attempting to flee the kennel. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Kaylas displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, bite, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
