Profile:
Basic: Kayla is a 16 year old spayed DSH. She was adopted from ACC and is being surrendered because of landlord issues. Kayla has not had any injuries or health issues and was last seen by a vet in 2008 for vaccines.
Socialization: Around strangers Kayla is friendly and affectionate. She has lived with children, young and adolescents and is respectful of them. She plays gently with adults and children and with other cats. She has lived with another cat since 2008, and was relaxed and respectful of the cat. Kayla has also lived with many birds in the house who did have out of cage time to fly around and Kayla did not pay them any attention. Kayla does not have a bite history.
Behavior: Kayla is well behaved and enjoys car rides. She has never had litterbox issues, except when her litterbox is not super clean, she will poop outside of the box, right next to the box. This has been going on for a little over a year and is very sporadic. She has not gone to a vet for this. Kayla has never gotten a bath and has never gotten a nail trim at home. Kayla likes being brushed and isnt bothered when she is picked up and held, put into a carrier or disturbed while sleeping.
For New Family: Kayla is described as affectionate, mellow, independent and quiet. Her activity level is low and her owners love how she waits at the door for them to come home and how she will wake them up each morning. Kayla loves to sleep, she will sleep anywhere in the house. She follows her owners around the house when they are home. She is kept indoors only and will not try to escape. She likes to eat dry Friskies food 2xday. She loves Temptations treats. She uses a hooded litterbox with clumping litters. She used to use a scratching post to scratch on, but now prefers to use front door mat which is made of rough rope. She also loves to lay on bathroom mats.
During intake Kayla allowed all handling and collaring and pressed her body into the counselor’s when the counselor was petting her. Kayla was purring.
