***SAFE 05/18/16*** KAUAI IS BACK AFTER LAST NIGHT’S CANCELLED LIST – AND NEEDS RESCUE MORE THAN EVER NOW!! After the ACC was having massive computer issues—they came up with a 27 cat list which ended up being cancelled. Nothing puts the “care” in “Animal Care Centers” quite like heaping even worse challenges on top of cats who are already facing steep odds. One of the most vulnerable cats on tonight’s At-Risk List is KAUAI, a NEW HOPE ONLY guy who’s scared and grumpy at the ACC. It’s his second shot at getting out of this place and needs a hero of heros tonight! People will probably write him off as a lost cause tonight and concentrate on the cats who are more easily adoptable, but don’t ALL lives matter? A vote for KAUAI is a share, a pledge, a foster/adopter who works with a New Hope rescue to save this guy—despite those steep odds against him—tonight!

05/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kauai was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Kauai was resting on top of his feral den with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kauai is alert and wary of his surroundings with his tail curled up at his side. Reaction to cage door opening: Kauai remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Kauai’s ears bend flat as you approach and started hissing. He attempts to swat when close and currently allows no handling. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Kauai is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat at the assessor and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
