I am a spayed female gray tabby domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 4 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/03/2017 from NY 10457, owner surrender reason stated was ALLERGIES.

Kathy A1113342 was placed At Risk for Adult Only determination; Reported to be shy around strangers and will need a few minutes to warm up to them. She appears alert of her surroundings and will display distance-reducing behaviors at times (rubbing her cheeks and rolling over when coaxed), but is a bit hesitant when touched and flinches. She appears conflicted of interactions while in the care center, possibly due to the stressful environment.

05/27/17 13:53 Basic information: Kathy is a 4 year old female gray tabby DSH. Her owner needs to surrender her because her son is developing allergies form the animal. Kathy has no health problems or injuries and her last vet visit was in 2016. Socialization: Around strangers Kathy is shy, and it takes her a few minutes to warm up. She has lived with a child age 11 years old; Kathy is relaxed, affectionate, and respectful with him. During play with adults or children Kathy is gentle. Kathy has not spent time or lived with any other animals; and has no bite history. Behavior: Kathy is housetrained; she scratches the furniture in the house. During car rides Kathy is relaxed, and during baths she isn’t bothered. She has never had her nails trimmed, she isn’t bothered having her coat brushed, being picked up/held. When being placed inside a carrier Kathy is afraid and struggles. She isn’t bothered if disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Kathy’s family would describe her as affectionate, playful, confident, and independent. She has a medium activity level; her favorite activity is playing fetch with a ball. When in the home Kathy follows you around, she likes to play with balls, and string toys. Kathy is kept indoors only; she sleeps in her owner’s bed and other spots in the home. She eats both wet/dry food 2x a day (Nine Lives), her favorite treat is cat nip treats. Kathy uses an uncovered litter box with clumping cat litter. Kathy does not have a scratching post.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: adults, child age 11 years old Behavior toward strangers: shy, and it takes her a few minutes to warm up Behavior toward children: relaxed, affectionate, and respectful Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Other notes: describe her as affectionate, playful, confident, and independent with a medium activity level ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/4/17- Resting in litter box, looking around. Sat up when door opened, looked around, lots of room noise. Leaned and arched into pets. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Kathy remained neutral, lying down on her cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Kathy remained soft and relaxed in place, alert with normal shape eyes. Reaction to touch: Kathy seemed hesitant, meowed, flinched when touched, but leaned into the assessor’s hand then randomly pawed (claws not exposed) while she continues to solicit. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Kathy may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
