11/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kappa was brought in without information on her behavioral tendencies her previous home environment. She lived with lots of other cats and appeared well during intake. She was tense and nervous during her initial medical exam, but allowed all handling to be conducted. Reaction to assessor: Kappa had a low body posture and was hiding partially behind her litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kappa’s eyes dart from me to her surroundings. Reaction to cage door opening: Kappa becomes stiff and alert, lowering her body even more. Reaction to touch: Kappa’s eyes widen as the assessor extends their hand, but she pokes her head forward to sniff it. She is very tense during touch and her ears tilt sideways, but she tolerates petting on her head and body. She looks from the assessor to their hand during the interaction and appeared unsure. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Kappa tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
