During intake Kalu was quiet. Kalu allowed to be scanned and collared but remained shy.

Basic Information:: Kalu is a spayed 1 year old Gray DMH . KAlu is being surrender along with other house mates because of a residential move.
How is this cat around strangers?: Around Strangers Kalu is shy and will hide.
How is this cat around children?: Kalu has been around a child the age of 2 and is relaxed around them.Kaluallows to be pet by the child.
How is this cat around other cats?: Kalu has lived with many other cats and is relaxed and affectionate with them. Kalu plays gently with the other cats.
How is this cat around dogs?: Kalu has not lived with dogs
Behavior Notes: Kaluisnt bothered when getting bathes or being picked up and held. Kalu also isnt bothered when being placed in a carrier. In car rides Kalu will meow.
Bite history:: No known bite history
For a New Family to Know: Kalu was described as calm and shy. Kalu enjoys playing with balls and mouse toys. Kalu is litter box trained. Kalu eats both wet and dry food mixed together. Kalu has a scratching post made of carpet and doesn’t scratch on anything else in the house. when home with Kalu she likes to sit on the owners lap or shoulders. When its time for bed Kalu sometimes likes to sleep in the bed.

Reaction to assessor:: Kalu was tense and crouched underneath her kuranda bed.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Kalu’s pupils dilate, she lip licks and remains completely motionless when coaxed by the assessor.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Kalu is tense and alert.
Reaction to touch:: Kalu lip licks and shrinks her body when touched by the assessor. She turns her head away and starts breathing rapidly, but tolerates slow gentle petting along her body.

Potential challenges comments:: Kalu has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step.
