SAFE 3/4/18 *PELVIC FRACTURE* Affectionate 3-Month-Old Kally Was Possibly HBC! @BACC . Kally is a sweet little kitten who appears to have been hit by a car yesterday. She has a pelvic fracture and needs surgery as soon as possible, but appears stable for now. Now that she’s on pain meds, she appears to appreciate affection and enjoys cheek rubs, gentle head scratches, and headbutting.

S/O: QARH. Resting comfortably in cage, allows all petting and handling, head butting. Ate small amount. Clean litter
EENT: Pink mm, teeth clean, eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge
HL: Normal thoracic auscultation
ABD: Soft, non tender
INTEG: Full coat
MS: Drags hind limbs (R>L) but deep pain and motor present, increased laxity in left tibio-tarsal joint
UG: Female
Radiographs: Thoracic cavity WNL. Complete transverse fracture of right ilium, possible right sided SI luxation, possible pubic symphysis fracture (may be positioning)
A: Suspect HBC – Right sided pelvic fracture.
P: Continue with simbadol. Recommend surgical repair. Fair/Good prognosis with appropriate care

MSI: Dragging hind limbs, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment: Suspect pelvic fracture
Prognosis: Open – pending diagnostics
Plan: During exam cat appeared very painful during palpation of abdomen and hind end – Gave simbadol 0.21ml SQ for pain. Rec keeping in medical overnight, scheduled radiographs for tomorrow – will likely need sedation – too painful at this time to complete exam
