Hello, my name is Juniper. My animal id is #17497. I am a desexed female black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 02-Jan-2018.
Juniper is at risk due to medical condition, severe icterus possibly from hepatic lipidosism primary liver disease, or biliary disease. We recommend Juniper receive an abdominal ultrasound once placed to confirm diagnosis. There are no behavior concerns for Juniper at this time, average determination.

This pt was in a room with a cat with panleukopenia. A panleukopenia titer test was done and this pt had a protective titer. Therefore, she does not need to be quarantined. 1088

History: Rejected for surgery due to yellow skin coloration Subjective: BAR Objective: T=101.6 P=240 Abdominal palpation – Unremarkable PLN – Unremarkable Integument – Icteric skin coloration around the eyes and on the forehead (yellow skin coloration around the eyes) EENT – icteric scelera and pinna Assessment Ddx: 1) Hepatic lipidosis 2) Cholestasis 3) Infectious hepatitis (FIP, FELV, bacterial) Plan 1) CBC and Biochemistry 2) IVF @ 1.5 maintenance (50ml/kg/day) * 1.5 = 15ml/hr 3) 5mg Cerenia SQ SID x 4 days Recommend 1) Abdominal x-ray/ultrasound

Subjective – QAR. Comfortable. Drank water and ate a small amount of soft food. Urine is a dark Yellow/Orange. Objective: MM: Pink/white EENT/Integument: Still presence of moderate yellow coloration – Icterus Urinary: Bilirubinuria Abdomen: Unremarkable. Non-painful Assessment: 1) Cholangiohepatitis 2) Hepatic lipidosis 3) Cholestatsis Plan: 1) Continue fluid therapy at 1.5X maintenance until bilirubinuria resolves and continue cerenia 2) Ampicillin IV 50 mg (0.2 ml @250mg/ml) TID x 3 days Recommend 1) Abdominal x-ray and ultrasound

Severe icterus, tbili 8.1 on 1/11; started on IVF, cerenia and ampicillin; attempted to run repeat chemistry yesterday but would not run, possibly due to severe value deraingements; IVF running at 10 ml/hr S/O -QAR, docile and affectionate, allows handling -mm pk, tacky; CRT >2 sec; appears slightly nausea -no nasal discharge or sneezing -pinna appear severely icteric -eupnic, heart/lungs WNL -soft, nonpainful abdomen; no palpable abnormalities A 1. Severe icterus-r/o hepatic lipidosis vs primary liver disease vs biliary dz vs other P -increased IVF to 15 ml/hr -gave 0.2 ml dexamethasone SP IV for nausea -attempt to force feed TID -concern for hepatic lipidosis which is treatable but often need aggressive supportive care which may include a feeding tube -recommend abdominal ultrasound after placement to confirm diagnosis

Went to the Aspca and they contacted us to report Juniper was already spayed. Aspca also noted Juniper was yellow in coloration.

RHL medial saphenous blood draw for in house CBC/Chem performed. 25g butterfly set and syringe used.

Chemistry profile run 3 separate times. twice with whole blood, and once with serum. All three times, the machine produced an error. Other bloodwork performed today had no issues in running. Suspect sample values to be very off. Informed DVM 1027

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 1/4/18 Observed Behavior -calm
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 01/03/18 Lying down by the back, calm and relaxed. Becomes alert when door opens, but sniffs hand when extended. Leans away, unsure, but accepts petting and remains in place. Has potential to warm up more.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Juniper remains neutral, sitting upright in side her cage cubby during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Juniper becomes alert with eyes wide open.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Juniper remains in place, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Juniper slowly engages with head tilt down. She sniffs the assessor’s hand, but seems hesitant and continues to move forward to head bunt. After, a few strokes she loosens up and appreciates the interaction while she purrs.
Reaction to being picked up:: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
