12/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Junior was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The counselor reports he walked out of his carrier upon intake, but had difficulty placing him back into the carrier. He did not display any distance-increasing behaviors during handling, however. The medical team reports he was sociable during his initial medical exam, allowing them to conduct all handling. Reaction to assessor: Junior meows and was calm, relaxed, and friendly. Reaction when softly spoken to: Junior approaches the front and head-butts the cage door, soliciting attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Junior remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Junior was a bit hesitant at first, but he head-butts, arches his back, starts to knead, and begins to purr. Reaction to pick up: Junior remains calm and allows all handling. Behavior Determination: Average Junior interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with an average amount of experience.
