I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 11/25/2016 from NY 11355, owner surrender reason stated was INAD FACIL. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-082479.

11/27/2016 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 4 NC – SEVERE CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 10.3 LBS.
11/27/16 Geriatric exam O: BARH. mm=lt pink, moist, CRT<2 s. ORAL: Mod. to severe calculus, gingivitis. EENT: No oculonasal discharge. AU – multiple 2 – 3 mm black, polypoid masses. H/L: Lungs clear. No mumurs/arrhythmias. ABD: Palpation WNL. MS: Amb x 4. Thin body condition with mild muscle loss over spine and pelvis. INTEG: Rough, unkempt haircoat. No palpable thyroid gland. A: Dental disease. Ears – Tdx cerumenous gland adnomas. Slightly thin with decreased grooming DDx – Renal disease, hyperthyroid, liver disease, neoplasia. P: Rec. full workup including blood and urine tests, thyroid testing when placed. Good prognosis with appropriate workup and management.

11/25/16 19:09 BASIC INFORMATION: Jessie is a white/orange tabby DLH male 16yr old cat. He was given to the owner 16 yrs ago and has no known health issues. Jessie has been surrendered to ACC due to owners residential move to a residence that does not allow pets. SOCIALIZATION: Jessie is unbothered by strangers and is tolerant when strangers pet him. He has been exposed to children and is respectful. Jessie does not play with the children but is tolerant of their presence and allows them to pet him. Jessie has resided with another cat and seemed playful and also tolerates her presence. Jessie gets along with other cats. Jessie has not been exposed to dogs. He has not bitten or scratched another animal or a person. BEHAVIOR: Jessie allows the owner to pick him up and hold him. He may give a struggle when placed in carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Jessie is best described as an affectionate & friendly cat. He has a medium to low activity level. Jessie enjoys playing with plastic bags and paper. When owner is home, Jessie follows owner around the house. Jessie would do best in a family or single person home. Jessie has been walked on a cat leash and tolerates it. He has been kept mostly indoors. He enjoys sleeping on the floor. Jessie eats wet and dry food from brand Meow Mix or Friskies daily. Jessie is litter box trained. He uses a hooded litter box and uses clumping litter. BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Jessie appeared to be relaxed in the carrier. Counselor handled carefully he allowed all handling & scanned negative.

Jessie’s previous owner reports he is unbothered by strangers, allowing them to pet him. He has lived with children and was respectful of them, allowing them to pet him. He also lived with other cats and appeared playful with this cat. He was described as a friendly and affectionate, and enjoys playing with plastic bags and paper. He has a low-medium activity level, but tends to follow the owner around at home. Reaction to assessor: Jessie approaches the front and is calm, relaxed, and friendly, Reaction when softly spoken to: Jessie meows and presses his face against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Jessie remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Jessie head-butts, leans in for petting, and begins to purr. He is very affectionate throughout the interaction, patting the assessor’s hand gently when petting stops to solicit more attention. Reaction to pick up: Jessie remains soft and continues to purr when held. Behavior Determination: Beginner Jessie interacts with the observer, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
