*** SAFE 03/06/18 *** WATCH HER VIDEO! A volunteer writes: Up until a few weeks ago, 11-year-old Jazzy was living in the home she’d been in since she was a kitten-when her owner relinquished her to the Care Center because of a move to a no-pets apartment. But here’s the upside: As disheartening as this transition has been, Jazzy has remained as sweet and friendly as ever. She won over volunteers with her dainty, slightly shy demeanor, and our behavior team also gave her an A+, calling out her soft and relaxed body language and love of getting pettings. Jazzy has the size and sweetness of a kitten but with the calm personality and energy level of an adult cat. And come on, with a milk mustache like that, how could she not make you smile? Meet this gray and white beauty on 110th Street today!
Jazzy is an 11 year old, gray and white, DSH female cat. She was given to her previous owner by a friend when she was a kitten. JAZZY is an owner surrender and was dumped along with her senior housemate, MISTY because owner was moving to a non-pet friendly apartment. Both of these seniors need homes asap- why not adopt both?
MANHATTAN CENTER
Hello, my name is Jazzy. My animal id is #21463. I am a female gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 11 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 23-Feb-2018, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving.
Original Location: 10454
Jazzy is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. Jazzy is a geriatric lady, but does not display any associated underlying conditions. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Jazzy, whom we believe would be suitable even for beginner cat homes.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…

[Spay/Neuter Waiver – Age] It is the policy of ACC not to perform surgery on any animal over the age of 8-10 years due to the higher risks incurred in a shelter setting. The veterinarian is hereby issuing a permanent spay/neuter waiver, from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY due to the estimated age of this animal. ACC does recommend you consult with your veterinarian to determine if surgical sterilization is appropriate.

Behavior Condition: 1. Green
Jazzy had a low tense body and backed away in her carrier when I approached. She sniffed extended hand and slowly poked her head out of the door when I opened it. She quickly went back inside. She allowed me to take her out of her carrier and had a low body while I collared her. She allowed me to pick her up and pet her. When paced in her carrier she went to the back and layed down.
