03/21/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Jason was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Weak, not very responsive EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Jason was curled up tight on her blanket facing the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jason remains motionless and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Jason turns around and becomes alert. Reaction to touch: Jason shifts her body weight and leans away when the assessor extends his hand out. She closes her eyes and curls up when pet along her body. She has a tense/ stiff body and takes some time before she opens up; allowing rubs and petting on her head. Reaction to being picked up: Jason has a tense body when picked up then curls up tight in the assessor’s arms. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy Please note that Jason is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Please note that this cat has a severe medical condition so we may not be seeing any true behavior and behavior may change when the cat’s medical condition improves. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Jason may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
