12/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Janice was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Janice was curled up tight in her litter box at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Janice’s eyes widen and become focused on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Janice remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Janice arches her back, her ears bend flat and she looks around the kennel for an exit. She quickly rushes forward trying to flee when the assessor extends his hand out and currently doesn’t allow any contact. Determination: New Hope Only Janice is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
