09/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Janelle was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was hissing and spitting upon intake and became defensive during her initial medical exam, displaying distance-increasing behaviors. Reaction to assessor: Janelle was curled up by the back, stiff and alert. Reaction when softly spoken to: Janelle looks at the assessor, and then averts her gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Janelle remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Janelle remains completely immobile as the assessor extends their hand and pets her gently on the head. She shifts her body slightly when touched along her back, but she does not display any further reaction. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Janelle tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
