JAMES – A1070611
Safe - 4-24-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 04/24/16** CONFUSED! The look on his face says it all—JAMES has no idea why he’s been torn from the family he loves, and plopped into a jail cell at the ACC. Frankly, most cat lovers will be every bit as befuddled as James is, knowing that “allergies” can be treated, but the lethal injection James will receive tomorrow, cannot be reversed. This is another instance where a GIFTED cat is haphazardly tossed aside by someone who may not have wanted him in the first place, which is both heartbreaking and frustrating to see. Toasters make good gifts—kittens do not! James is only 2 years young, his surrender notes make him out to be a super guy, and he needs a foster/adopter tonight!

04/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
James’ former owner stated he is friendly and outgoing with strangers. He has lived with 2 adults and a 2 year old child, he is described as relaxed and affectionate and plays gently. He has not been around cats or other dogs. Reaction to assessor: James looks neutral in the cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: James remains lying down on his cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open, stress meowing in place. Reaction to touch: James seems hesitant but slowly head-butts the assessor’s hand however, conflicted with the touch and hisses then swats while he rolls over. Placement determination: Experience / no child tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
