JADE – A1065536
Safe - 2-26-2016 Brooklyn
*** SAFE 02/26/16 *** JADE IS A JEWEL WHO DESERVES TO HAVE A LOVING HOME – BUT THE ACC IS NOT GOING TO LET HER HAVE THE CHANCE! JADE came in as a stray and she was initially afraid and trying to flee. At her assessment however, after hissing she immediately decided to give head-butts and loved all the petting and attention. She exhibited a very affectionate behavior, but sadly because JADE is confused and was not consistent in her past behavior she received an EXPERIENCE rating. JADE seems like a very sweet girl and she is only about 2 years old. She is not sick but has an eye issue which needs to be looked into by a competent vet. GIVE JADE A CHANCE FOR A HAPPY ENDING TO HER STORY. ADOPT OR FOSTER HER BY CONTACTING A NEW HOPE RESCUE NOW!! EMAIL THE HELP DESK AT [email protected] FOR MORE INFO.

02/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jade was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She attempted to flee and did not allow handling due to fear upon intake. She was tense during the initial medical exam and tried to resist handling, but she allowed handling once wrapped around in a towel and did not display any aggressive behaviors. Reaction to assessor: Jade was lying down in her cage, neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jade averts her gaze and ignores the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Jade remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Jade was hesitant and focuses on the assessor’s hand. She whines and hissed initially, but once touched she would head-butt and arch her back strongly against petting. She slowly comes to the front and head-butts. Once warmed up, she completely relaxes and is very affectionate. Reaction to pick up: Jade struggles and jumps back into her cage. Placement Determination: Experience Jade is willing to interact with the observer and appreciates attention, but she initially hisses. She may be fearful or stressed in the shelter environment, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
