Reaction when softly spoken to: Jack lip licks then slowly comes to the front to sniff the assessor the squints. Reaction to cage door opening: Jack becomes alert and slowly inches his way to the front. Reaction to touch: Jack sniffs the assessor’s hand, leans in for attention very slowly and allows petting with a slow approach. His tail pilo-erects and he seems unsure as the assessor pets him on his head. When touched along his back he quickly whips around and focuses on the assessor’s hand as a warning to stop. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Jack tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
