I am a male black and white domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS old.

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 10/29/2016 from NY 11377, owner surrender reason stated was HOARDING. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-079712.

11/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Iota was brought in without information on his behavioral tendencies in his previous home environment. He lived with lots of other cats and appeared well during intake. He was tense and nervous during his initial medical exam, and attempted to flee during handling. Reaction to assessor: Iota was inside a hidey den upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Iota does not respond. Reaction to cage door opening: Iota remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Iota becomes alert as the assessor shifts his den around to get a better look at him. His head tilt back and his eyes dilate as the assessor extends their hand, but he remains completely immobile during touch and has a tense body. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Iota tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
