Reaction to assessor: Idris was relaxed and lying down inside his litter box.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Idris reaches out with soft paws and kneads on his blanket.
Reaction to cage door opening: Idris is calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Idris comes forward and gently rubs his body against the assessor’s hand. He purrs when pet, gives head butts and is incredibly affectionate.
Reaction to being picked up: Idris is calm, relaxed and allows all handling.

Basic Information:
Idris is a male cat who was surrendered due to his previous owner moving to a place where animals are not allowed.
Socialization:
Around strangers Idris is friendly, outgoing and plays gently with adults and children ages infants to 5years old. Idris has spent time with other cats/ small dogs and usually ignores them. Idris has never bite/scratched another person or animal.
Behavior:
Idris has not shown any behavior concerns while in his previous home. Idris is fearful when riding in a car and will urinate. Idris’s previous owner did not attempt to give his a bath, trim his nails or place him in a carrier so it is unknown how he will react to those events. Idris enjoys being brushed, being picked up/held and doesn’t mind being disturbed while resting/sleeping.
For a New Family:
Idris is described as affectionate, confident and quiet with a medium activity. When at home Idris will follow around his owner and likes to play with stuffed toys. Idris was kept indoors only and was fed dry food from the box meow mix. Idris is litter box trained and uses a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Idris uses a vertical scratching post made of rough rope and carpet.
Intake behavior:
Idris was very fearful during intake and began to hiss and growl during intake. Staff was unable to collar or take picture on backdrop.
