Low body posture, keeps to the back of the kennel. Hisses and displays distance increasing behaviors when approached. Not ready to interact yet. Left alone and sprayed feliway.
04/01/17
A little more relaxed today. Seems to be playing with her catnip toys. Rubbing up against kennel furnishings. She hisses and her tail flickers when the door opens. Hair on back pilo-erects. Accepts petting, leans in for attention. Slowly approaches the front to investigate. Doesn’t mind being pet all over
04/04/17
Social and friendly at the front of the kennel, rubbing up on the cage furnishings. Tail sways and she reaches out with paws for attention. She’s calm when the door opens and continues soliciting attention. Her body is relaxed and she is constantly rubbing up for attention. After few minutes of attention she gets excited, rolls over on her side with her tail thrashing around. She whips around occasionally but doesn’t display any further reaction.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Energetic
VOCAL: Somewhat chatty
CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Affectionate
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
Overstimulation – Hunter is social and affectionate and appears to show signs of overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Hunter becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Experienced cat parent – Hunter may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
