Henry is a spayed 7 year old grey and white tabby. Her owner has had her for around 6 years and is being surrendered due to allergies. She has no known health problems or injuries that the owner is aware of.
Around strangers, Henry tends to be very shy and may take a couple days to get use to new people. She has lived with a two year old and was reportedly tolerant of the child. She is very gentle in play with adults. She has lived with another 7 year old female cat and was respectful and tolerant of each other. She has not bitten a person or another animal.
Henry has no known behavioral problems according to the owner. During the car ride, Henry would cry in her carrier. She has no known litter box issues as well. The owner has not given her a bath but said she would struggle when brushed or had her nails trimmed. She is tolerant of some handling but will struggle to get away.
Henry is described as a mellow and shy cat with a medium activity level. She loves to hang around the living room and watch birds outside the window. She was kept indoors only and fed wet food. She is litter box trained and was provided with an open box with clumping clay.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Observed Behavior – needed scruffing/strong restraint for exam/treatment
ENRICHMENT NOTES:
08/26/17
She vocalizes when approached then gently rubs her body up against the cage wall. She meows then leans in for attention; allows petting all over her body. She appreciates attention but appears to get overstimulated with prolonged interactions. After a few soft pets along her back she whips around, vocalizes and focuses intensely on my hand. It takes a few seconds before she calms down and goes back to soliciting attention.
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor: Henry meows and rubs against the cage door to solicit attention.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Henry continues to rub against the cage door.
Reaction to cage door opening: Henry greets the assessor by the opening.
Reaction to touch: Henry head-butts hard and rubs her entire body against the assessor. Her tail sways sideways and the fur along her spine stands up, but she continues to solicit attention. She may become overstimulated, but she doesn’t seem to mind continued gentle strokes.
Reaction to pick up: Henry remains calm and allows to be held for a prolonged period.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively, Active
VOCAL: Somewhat chatty
CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Sweet, Insistent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
– Overstimulation – Henry is social and affectionate but may be easily overstimulated. We recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal in cats, so that interactions can be ended before she becomes overstimulated.
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average
Henry interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. She may need time to warm up to new people, but this cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
