Haven was last seen by a vet when adopted and currently has no known health issues/injuries. Socialization: Haven is friendly/outgoing with strangers. She hasn’t been around children but was gentle, playful, relaxed/affectionate with the adult in the home. There was a large breed male dog that Haven did not like; she would try to scratch & or bite them. Haven hasn’t bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: During car rides Haven will meow or be relaxed. She isn’t bothered by the following: being brushed, pet or being put into a carrier. Haven hasn’t been disturbed while sleeping/resting, been bathed or had her nails trimmed. For a New Family to Know: Haven is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, independent & quiet with medium-high activity level. When the owner is home Haven follows them around. She’s an indoor cat that sleeps around the home, eats dry & canned Friskies cat food 2-3x a day, uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter within and scratches on furniture; she has a carpeted cat tower that she doesn’t use. The owner stated Haven likes to climb onto the fridge (knocks items down), counter & sometimes on top of the cabinets. Intake Behavior: Haven had a soft body, eyes and allowed all handling. She allowed to be scanned (+), collared & have her pictures taken. Haven didn’t seem to mind being picked up at all and was placed into a kennel with ease.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Playful, Sweet
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Overstimulation – She is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before she becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. – Very high energy level – She is an active young cat who would benefit from increased mental and physical stimulation to appropriately direct her energy. Using fishing pole-type toys will allow for vigorous and stimulating exercise. Puzzle feeders will also keep her engaged and exercise her brain in addition to her body. – Destructive behavior – Haven is reported to scratch on furniture and should go to a home that can safely cat-proof furniture in the home. She was given a cardboard scratching post, but we recommend trying a scratching post made out of sisal rope or cardboard. We advise future adopters to make sure to provide mentally and physically stimulating toys to keep Haven occupied when left alone. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced, adult home only – Haven solicits attention and tolerates petting but may be easily overstimulated. Due to her behaviors, we feel that this cat will do best in an adult only home.
