GYPSY – A1091966
Safe - 10-28-2016 Brooklyn
***SAFE 10/28/16 *** MAKE THE THIRD TIME THE CHARM FOR GORGEOUS GYPSY!!…. GYPSY was brought into the shelter as a healthy stray. She is only about a year old. Since the last time she was euth listed on the 17th, she has caught the shelter germs and now has a cold! So that is why she is BACK on tonight’s list. GYPSY was friendly and giving head butts on her assessment but she nipped when touched on a certain part of her back. This is no biggie but the ACC gave her an EXPNOCHILD rating and whisked her away to tonight’s list. Yet the shelter states that it may be that she is play-aggressive and needs fishing pole type toys to entertain her. IF YOU WANT A PLAYFUL ADORABLE KITTY LOOK NO FURTHER – GYPSY WANTS TO COME HOME WITH YOU. CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT!!

10/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
**UPDATE 10/10/16** Gypsy remains calm and relaxed while under our care in the care center, however, she does not appear to appreciate prolonged interactions with her care takers. She perks up when interacted with and will head-butt initially, but she would become tense and flip her head around to nip the assessor’s hand after a few gentle strokes along her back. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Gypsy becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a home with experienced cat parents and without children. Date: 10/04/16 Gypsy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Gypsy keeps her tail lowered and slowly comes forward to greet the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Gypsy lightly her butts the kennel door seeking attention then rolls over on her side playfully. Reaction to cage door opening: Gypsy is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Gypsy sniffs the assessor’s hand then allows petting and rubs on her cheeks. She leans and lightly head butts the assessor’s hand and will occasionally lip lick and nip with slight pressure. Her tail rises up, pilo-erects and can become aroused when petted for a significant period of time. Gypsy is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Gypsy becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Behavior Determination: Experience Gypsy may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
