GUS aka MONA – 8113 aka A1126679
Safe - 10-11-2017 Brooklyn
*** SAFE 10/11/17 *** A volunteer writes: Gus is a majestic, polydactyl (that means he has “thumbs”!) cat with a sweet demeanor and an insatiable love for cat treats. When I first encountered Gus, he was slightly reserved not necessarily shy, more that he was coolly determining if I was a friend or not. Luckily, that’s where his love for treats came in once I offered him a couple, Gus determined that I was pretty obviously a friend, and he responded in kind, affectionately head-butting my hand, purring and just generally being a goof. Show this beautiful, six-toed guy that you’re a friend, too, and he’d certainly love to be yours.
**POLYDACTYL** GUS (Mona) is a big friendly boy who has some extra toes on his feet! He is very sweet and is hoping someone will give him a new furever home.

Details on my behavior are…
Gus was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Very sweet. Easily handle able ENRICHMENT NOTES: 09/27/17 Lying on top of kuranda bed, ears forward and body relaxed. This big guy has lots of toes. He allows petting along his head and body while lifting his tail and butt into the air and rolling over onto his side. A bit nervous after first day, he’s not confident enough to jump down or come forward yet, but he’s friendly and allows all petting. Has potential to warm up quickly. Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Gus was lying down on his bedding near the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Gus lifts his head up to make eye contact, lip licks but doesn’t come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Gus rises up and comes forward. Reaction to touch: Gus sniffs the assessor’s hand then leans in and accepts petting/rubs all over his body. He perks up when touched, gives head butts and is very affectionate. Reaction to being picked up: Gus was tense when picked up, then got antsy and leaped back into the cage. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet Affectionate Curious POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: None
