I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/25/2016 from NY 10033, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

11/25/16 16:31 Basic Information Gray is a 2 year old male domestic short hair. He is being surrendered because owner has become allergic. Owner found him as a stray when he was a little kitten. Owner stated he has no medical issues but has never taken him to a vet. Socialization Gray is friendly around strangers. He has never lived or spent time with kids, other cats, dogs, or any other kind of animal. He plays in a gentle manner with adults. He has never bitten a person or animal. Behavior Owner stated he does not have any behavior issues and is not bothered by car rides. Owner has never bathed him or trimmed his nails. He tolerated all types of handling. For a New Family to Know Gray is described as friendly, affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. He will follow his owner around when home. He likes to play with balls and stuffed toys. He was kept indoors only and slept in his own bed. He was fed Alley Cat dry cat food. Owner always kept his bowl filled. He uses an uncovered cat litter box with crystal style litter in it. Owner stated he has a scratching post made out of rough rope. Behavior during Intake Gray tolerated all handling. He was purring loudly and head butting me. No signs of aggression were displayed.

Also, described as friendly, affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Gray looks neutral, lying down on his cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Gray engages the front of the cage, relaxed stand body posture with tail up, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Gray head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: He calmly jumps back into the cage. Placement determination: Average Gray interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
