GRAMERCY – A1065292
Safe - 2-24-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
*** SAFE 02/24/16 *** STRESSED! Gramercy is a 3-year-old guy who was brought to the ACC as a stray. His lack of external parasites and healthy presentation in his photos, suggest he was someone’s pet. Independent dudes like Gramercy have NO love for prison cells and being tormented by captors, so it’s no surprise that Gramercy is a wee bit grumpy at the shelter. His EXPNOCHILD rating means the ACC thinks he is a better fit for a home with no young children, but that doesn’t mean they will find such a dream for him. A FOSTER or ADOPTER is the only thing that can stand between Gramercy and that deadly needle, tomorrow, so it’s vital such a hero be found tonight!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gramercy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder reports he does not like to be handled and will hiss and swat when attempting to pick him up. Reaction to assessor: Gramercy was lying down upon approach, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Gramercy looks at the assessor and starts to growl and whine. He closes his eyes after to rest. Reaction to cage door opening: Gramercy becomes alert, but remains in place. Reaction to touch: Gramercy watches the assessor’s hand and sniffs it. He allows gentle petting on his head and closes his eyes, but he will growl, whine, and the end of his tail thumps heavily. He seems extremely uncomfortable with contact, but did not display further reaction. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Gramercy tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
