SAFE 11/27/17 GOUDA!! 8 Week Sweet Kitten Needs *6 month Quarantine* NEEDS CONFIRMED PLACEMENT ASAP! Can you get any Cuter than some Gouda Cheese? – *6 MONTH RABIES QUARANTINE NEEDED* Gouda came to us as a stray and has bites of unknown origin. He will need to be quarantined at a vet clinic or can be quarantined in a home with permission from DOH in the 5 boroughs. If leaving the 5 boroughs, quarantined MUST be approved by the receiving city or township DOH. Please note, the 5 boroughs are easier for in home quarantin
This little boy is so adorable! He came in with a kitty cold and looking much better than he did.

Intake

L V T Notes: 7:43 PM

Microchip: negative

Sex: male

Age ~ 2 months

Mentation: wnl

Eyes: ocular discharge

Ears:wnl

Nose: nasal discharge

Teeth: wnl

If abnormal BCS:

Skin: wnl

Hair Coat: wnl

Declawed: no

Any injuries: puncture wounds on the LT ear pinna from old fight but no bleeding

Behavior: Very nervous, growling, body tense, ears flat, difficult to handle

Medication :

As per Dr.1382

Doxycycline Susp 0.2 ml SID for 10 days

Erythromycin BID X 10 days

LRS S/Q 20 ml for now

 

Vet Notes: 2:24 PM

[DVM Intake]

DVM Intake Exam

Estimated age:2 months

History : stray; not eating; started on doxycycline and erythromycin ophthalmic ointment

Subjective:

Observed Behavior -tolerated exam

Evidence of Cruelty seen -no

Evidence of Trauma seen -puncture wounds seen at left ear

Objective

BCS 3/9

EENT: OU-mucoid discharge, AU-brown debris; no nasal discharge seen

Oral Exam: limited exam, mm’s pale pink, deciduous teeth

PLN: No enlargements noted

H/L: bradycardia, no murmur Lungs clear, eupneic

ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated

U/G: MI

MSI: Ambulatory x 4, flea dirt, no masses noted, decreased skin turgor, puncture wound seen at left pinna and approx 1.5 cm wound at caudal aspect of pinna with purulent discharge

CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities

Assessment

wounds at left ear pinnae and purulent discharge- R/O bite wounds vs other trauma

nasal discharge at intake- R/o URI vs other

pale mm’s- R/O flea anemia vs other

bradycardia

underweight

Prognosis: guarded

Plan:

cleaned wound with chlorohexiderm and flushed with saline

continue erythromycin

discontinue the doxycycline and start amoxi/clav 9 mg PO BID x 10 days

LRS SQ 20 mls SID x 3 days

unable to get enough blood for a CBC or chem

ate some canned a/d well

SURGERY:

Temporary waiver due to URI

**** PLEASE NOTE **** KITTENS under the age of 8 weeks or weighing 2 pounds or less CAN ONLY be PULLED by a RESCUE!!!! IF INTERESTED, PLEASE contact a RESCUE ASAP!!!
