History : pelvic fx, suspect mechanical urinary obstruction
Subjective:growling in kennel, allows some handling. posturing to urinate while observing and dark yellow urine seen on white towel in kennel. defecated normal amount in litter pan
no interest in eating canned food. offered dry food
limited visual examination and took out of kennel with LVT (moves all limbs)
BCS: 4/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam:not done
H/L: eupneic
U/G: able to urinate (posturing and visualized yellow urine in kennel)
MSI: standing and moving around in kennel
Assessment: adult MI DSH
Prognosis:good to poor
Plan:continue with current treatments

Administered 0.1mls of Dexmeditomidine 0.5mg/ml IM @ 3:33pm for bladder examination. Administered an additional 0.2mls of Ketamine 100mg/ml IM for additional sedation. DVM expressed bladder. Patient was reversed with 0.05 of Antisedan 5mg/ml IM.

Neuro: Knuckling RHL, withdrawal decreased on RHL , patellar intact
A: pelvic fx with bilateral hindlimb paraparesis and R sciatic nerve dysfunction
Concern for possible UO as not urinating r/o UMN bladder, pain, mechanical obstruction (ruled out post sedation)
P:Sedated with 0.1 dexdomitor IM + 0.2 mg ketamine IM
Difficult to sedate patient, Urinated easily once fully sedate. —
Continue with current medications, gabapentin, prazocin, midazolam, simbadol, onsior

Observed Behavior – could remove from kennel but became fractious during examination likely secondary due to pain from hind right. Escaped handling and ran back into kennel. Only performed partial exam. Will need to sedate for xrays and perform all intake treatments.

Sedate and perform lateral/VD radiographs of pelvis and HR

Give 0.91 mg/lb Onsior – 0.5 ml SQ SID for 3 days
Give 0.11 mg/lb Simbadol – 0.6 ml SQ SID for 3 days
