05/31/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/31/16 20:58 Basic information: Ginger is a 1 year old spayed female domestic short hair. She was found as a stray when she was a kitten. She was surrendered because her previous owner lost his home. She has no known injuries and the last time she went to the vet was 11-16-15. Socialization: Around strangers Ginger is shy for a few minutes and when she plays with adults she is gentle. She lives with 5 other cats. With them she was relaxed and affectionate. Behavior: She has never attempted to bite a person or animal. In car rides she sleeps. Her previous owner has never attempted to give her a bath or trim her nails. She enjoys having her coat brushed. She isnt bothered if she is picked up but struggles after a few minutes. She isn’t bothered if she is placed in a carrier or disturbed while sleeping. For a new family to know: Ginger is described as friendly, affectionate, mellow, fearful and independent. She has a medium activity level and her previous owner liked that she is sweet and fiesty. When her previous owner was home Ginger would tend to follow him around. She liked to play with balls and stuffed toys. She was kept indoors only. At night she slept anywhere. She ate both wet and dry friskies and 9 lives. She is liter box trained and used a hooded litter box and clumping cat litter. She used a vertical scratching post made of rough rope cardboard and smooth wood. Behavior during intake: Ginger had a tense body and backed away while I attempted to collar. She showed no signs of aggression.

06/03/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Ginger looks neutral, crouched position on her cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Ginger slowly retreats to the back of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Ginger hisses at first, attempts to dodge the assessor’s hand, but once touched she flinches in place and stiffens up. Placement determination: Experience / no child Ginger tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children. 6/7 update: Ginger does not appear to be thriving in the kennel environment. She has been hiding under her blanket for the last few days and does not emerge when visited. She appears to be highly stressed and is not acclimating well, so we feel it is in her best interest to move into a stable home environment quickly.
