I am a male white and gray tabby domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 10 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 11/17/2016 from NY 11373, owner surrender reason stated was LLORDPRIVA.

11/17/16 12:43 Gialve is a male gray and white domestic shorthair. He was surrendered by his owner due to owner facing issues with the landlord. Owner moved into a facility that accepts pets but due to a neighbors allergies was asked to remove the pet from the home. Gialve was with his owner for two years and was found as a stray. Gialve has lived with four adults and two children ages eight and ten. Gialve is a shy cat and takes a few minutes to warm up to new people. Around the children he is playful and will engage in gentle play, owner stated he was affectionate towards the children as well. He has not been socialized with other cats or dogs. Gialve was not taken to the vet or groomed. Gialve is not bothered when placed in a carrier and likes to be held. Gialve is described as an independent and relaxed cat. He has a low activity level and loves to mostly sleep. He has is litterbox trained and uses an open litterbox and crystals. Gialve eats friskies dry brand and is fed twice a day. Upon intake Gialve was relaxed and approached the front of the carrier. Counselor was able to scan(negative) and he walked out the carrier onto the counter. He head butted cousnelors hand and softly purred. Cousnelor was able to collar and photograph.

As per previous owner, Gialve has lived with 4 adults and 2 children ages eight and ten. Gialve is a shy cat a takes a few minutes to warm up to new people. Around the children he is affectionate, playful and will engage in gentle play with them. He doesn’t mind being placed in a carrier and enjoys being held. His owner describes him as independent and a relaxed cat with a low activity level. He is litter box trained and he’s never been around other cats or dogs. Reaction to assessor: Gialve was at the front of the kennel eating his food. Reaction when softly spoken to: Gialve turns towards the assessor, meows softly then leans forward to sniff. Reaction to cage door opening: Gialve becomes alert and slowly moves to the back. Reaction to touch: Gialve seems hesitant at first and squints when the assessor extends his hand out. He sniffs the assessor’s hand then slowly warms up when pet. His body feels a bit tense and he allows petting along his body with a slow gentle approach. He builds confidence, meows softly then slowly comes towards the front and gives gentle head butts. He appreciates attention and starts to purr softly when rubbed on his cheeks Reaction to being picked up: Gialve was a bit tense when picked up but remains calm and allows all handling. Please note that Gialve is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Behavior Determination: Average Gialve interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
