Hello, my name is Ghost. My animal id is #8678. I am a desexed male gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years 2 weeks old. – P

I came into the shelter as a stray on 02-Oct-2017

Ghost 7678 is at risk for an upper respiratory infection (URI). Please also note he is geriatric. Behaviorally, he has been friendly and social with his human caretakers, and seems to appreciate all petting and attention. He is suitable for a first-time adopter.

BARH scan negative neutered male nervous, growling, tried to scrarch 15 yrs old reported geriatric heavy tartar dirty ears, unable to clean clean coat BCS 5/9 NOSF

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age:10 (reported 15) Microchip noted on Intake? n History : o surrender Subjective: Observed Behavior -allows exam, reported hard to remove from cage Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -n Objective T = P =200 R =wnl BCS 6/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: mod tartar PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: neutered MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: healthy Prognosis:good Plan:no treatment

S/O QAR, docile good appetite OU-clouding of lens, open and clear sneezing, mild serous nasal discharge eupnic A Geriatric URI P move to isolation doxycycline 50 mg/ml: 1 ml PO SID x 10 days recheck in 5 days

S/O-recheck URI, day 5 doxycycline QAR mild appetite sneezing, serous nasal discharge and mild nasal congestion OU-mild blepharospasm, no d/c appears eupnic A URI-active P cerenia 0.5 ml SQ x 2 days recheck in 3 days

Hx: Day 8 of doxycycline for URI. Pt also received Cerenia 10/12/17-10/13/17. Today pt is still mildly congested. Alert in kennel. Poor appetite. Add nebulization BID x4 days, vit B12 injection (0.25 ml SQ), mirtazapine 1/4 tab PO once. 1088

Completed course of doxy for URI on 10/17 and appeared clear on 10/18; reported to be sneezing S/O mild appetite QAR, appears docile and friendly sneezing, mild serous nasal discharge; nasal congestion OU: mild blepharospasm; geriatric changes appears eupnic A URI-relapsed vs never resolved Geriatric P move to isolation doxycycline 1 ml PO SID x 10 days repeat mirtazapine dose nebulize BID recheck in 5 days

Mitarzapine given today. Cat was eating dry food and tuna today.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Ghost was brought in with limited information on their behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/3/17 Resting in litter box, eyes a little dilated, seemed unsure. Initially leaned away from touch, then sniffed hand, started eating treats, and tolerated pets. Hissed when door closed. Sprayed feliway. 10/4/17 Resting in litter box, soft eyes and body. Lay in place when door opened, sniffed hand, then leaned and arched enthusiastically into pets. Ate offered treats, started to explore cage.

Cage Condition:: No change

Reaction to assessor:: Ghost immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage.

Reaction when softly spoken to:: Ghost remains soft in place.

Reaction to cage door opening:: Ghost remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention.

Reaction to touch:: Ghost head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body.

Reaction to being picked up:: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.

ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Mellow

VOCAL:: Quiet

CHARACTER TYPE: : Calm,Sweet

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Beginner

Behavior Asilomar: H – Healthy

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Junior interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
